Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
Camera will not
operate
Power is not turned
on
• Press the power button for a
moment.
SD card slot/battery
cover is open
• Confirm that the SD card slot/
battery cover is securely closed.
Insufficient battery
voltage
• Insert a fully charged battery into
the camera.
• Use the AC Adapter Kit ACK900
(sold separately).
Poor contact
between camera and
battery terminals
• Wipe the terminals with a clean
dry cloth.
Camera will not
record
Mode dial is set to
(Playback)
• Set the mode dial to , ,
or .
Flash is charging
(Blinking in the
LCD monitor)
• The indicator will light orange
when it is charged. You can then
press the shutter button.
SD card is full • Insert a new SD card.
• If required, download the images
to a computer and erase them
from the SD card to make space.
SD card is not
formatted correctly
• Format SD card.
• If reformatting does not work, the
SD card logic circuits may be
damaged. Consult the nearest
Canon Customer Support Help
Desk.
SD card is write-
protected.
• Slide the write-protect tab of the
SD card upward (p. 24).
Cannot play back
You attempted to play
back images shot
with another camera
or images edited with
a computer
Computer images that cannot be
played back will play back if they are
added to the camera using the
bundled software program
ZoomBrowser EX or ImageBrowser.
File name was
changed with a
computer or file
location was changed
• Set the file name or file number
according to the Design rule for
