Canon’s 75-year heritage at the cutting edge of
optical technology can be experienced in every
one of the lenses it makes.
The innovation and quality
standards of high-end optics such
as TV broadcast and EOS EF lenses
– trusted by millions of professionals
throughout the world – are shared
with Canon’s digital compact
camera lenses to ensure each one
delivers superb images with
stunning clarity and sharpness.
Using the latest technology, Canon is
developing and manufacturing some
of the smallest and most powerful
compact lenses available that not
only produce images of exceptional
quality but also fit into slim and
ultra-portable camera bodies.
From capturing the natural
atmosphere of very low light
scenes with bright optics to
bringing closer the beauty of
distant subjects with powerful
optical zooms, Canon lenses
help everyone to record their
precious moments just the way
they want. Here are just a few
pioneering examples:
Canon’s first 50x optical zoom lens
The astonishing zoom power of the
PowerShot SX50 HS covers a total focal range
of 24mm to 1200mm, yet still delivers superb image
quality and maintains the camera’s compact size.
Optical excellence is supported by an Ultrasonic
motor for fast zooming and 4.5-stop* optical
Image Stabilizer for sharp results.
30x optical zoom in a mini camera
Optics miniaturisation allowed the creation
of a very compact ultra-zoom camera – the
PowerShot SX500 IS – which combines tiny
size and big zoom with superb high
resolution results.

Pioneering optical excellence
Stylish Superzooms
Canon used their optical expertise to hide a powerful
12x zoom lens inside the super thin, stylish camera
bodies of the IXUS 500 HS and IXUS 510 HS – so you
can always carry superzoom power with you.
Bright optics
For mastering low light situations, and for more
creative freedom with more intense background
blur effect than most compacts, the PowerShot G15
offers a bright zoom lens (f/1.8-2.8) whilst the
PowerShot S110 delivers an f/2.0 maximum
aperture in a truly pocketable form.
