Canon Digital Video Technology
ADVANCED ZOOM
Now you can capture true widescreen
16:9 video with stunning image quality from
any distance—all the way up to 48x. Canon’s exclusive
Advanced Zoom system combines Genuine Canon Optics
with Canon’s proprietary DIGIC DV Image Processor to let you
seamlessly zoom both wide and long, retaining optical quality
throughout the zoom range.
HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD)
TECHNOLOGY
HDD camcorders record video directly to an internal hard
disk drive, letting you record hours of video so you never
miss the action. There’s no need for tapes or disks. You’ll
r
ec
ord footage with ultimate quality, and find it easy to view and
access your clips on the LCD screen, your computer or TV.
RGB PRIMARY COLOR FILTER
Both video footage and photos benefit from
an RGB Primary Color Filter. The filter separates
light into its red, green and blue color components.
The resulting images are vibrant with vivid, true-to-life color
that takes all your movies and still images to the next level.
24p CINEMA MODE/
30p PROGRESSIVE MODE
Achieve a professional film look with 24p Cinema Mode—a
combination of two features which can be used independently
or together. The first feature offers a movie film frame rate of 24p,
while the second adjusts the color and tonal characteristics to
evoke the look and feel of a big-screen movie. 30p Progressive
Mode, once exclusive to pro-level camcorders, delivers clarity
to fast-action subjects like news and sports, and is the perfect
frame rate for clips intended to be posted on the web.
HIGH-DEFINITION MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE
TERMINAL (HDMI)
HDMI is the new standard in
HD connection. Canon camcorders
with an HDMI terminal use a single
cable to transport a High Definition video signal with audio
to your HDTV.
INTELLIGENT LITHIUM-ION
BATTERY
The new Intelligent Lithium-ion Battery accurately indicates

control from any angle.
MULTI-ANGLE VIVID

you’re shooting—and what you’ll see later on your TV or
computer—with Canon’s Multi-Angle Vivid Widescreen LCD.
The widescreen offers a wide viewing angle visible from any
direction—perfect for flexibility while shooting or showing
videos to others on the spot. The screen’s expanded color
range is robust and accurate.
QUICK START

waiting for your camcorder to power up!

mode, considerably reducing power consumption to pre-
