Uses of the Variable Shutter Control Ring — Adjusting

Exposure

When shooting people against the light, the subject will be under-exposed.

In such situations, move the exposure adjustment scale to "2" or "4" for

proper exposure.

When shooting a theater stage under strong spotlights, the darkness around

it may cause the picture to be over-exposed. In such situations, reduce the

shutter angle so that proper exposure can be obtained and blur be avoided

at the same time.

• The numbers "2” and "4" on the scale of the variable shutter control

ring adjust exposure to 1/2 and 1/4 respectively.

• Exposure can also be adjusted by means of manual aperture control.

Uses of the Variable Shutter Control Ring — Prevention of

Image Blur

• The relation of filming speed and exposure time changes with the

different shutter angles, as shown in the following chart.

As shown in the chart, if the shutter angle varies, the shutter speed changes

even when filming speed remains unaltered. When shooting moving subjects

such as sports, blur can be prevented by reducing the shutter angle. Thus,

each frame will be sharply expxssed.

When you change the shutter angle in ordinary EE shooting, do not fa

to set the exposure adjustment scale, otherwise proper exposure cannc

be obtained.
