Maintenance
Care of the projector
Your projector needs maintenance from time to time, depending on the environmental circumstances, and
should be done by authorized service technicians only. Contact your dealer for instructions.
What you can do yourselves on a regular basis is to keep the lens clean, keep the cabinet clean, and
replace the air filter.
Never remove any parts of the projector except the lamp and air filter cover. Contact your dealer if other
parts need replacing.
Have the interior of the projector cleaned at regular intervals.
If the projector is used for a long period of time, dust could accumulate inside the projector. This could
cause a fire or malfunction. It is recommended that periodic maintenance of the projector be performed.
For details of maintenance costs, contact the Canon Customer Support Center.
Cleaning the lens
Clean the lens whenever you notice dirt or dust on the surface.
Use a canister of compressed air to remove dust.
If there is dirt or smears, use lens-cleaning paper or moisten a soft cloth with lens cleaner and gently
wipe the lens surface.
Never rub the lens with abrasive materials.
Cleaning the projector case
Before you clean the case, turn the projector off using the proper shutdown procedure as described in
"Shutting down the projector" on page 47 and unplug the power cord.
To remove dirt or dust, wipe the case with a soft, lint-free cloth.
To remove stubborn dirt or stains, moisten a soft cloth with water and a neutral pH detergent. Then
wipe the case.
Never use wax, alcohol, benzene, thinner or other chemical detergents. These can damage the case.
Flammable substances may ignite causing fire or breakdown while the lamp is illuminating.
Replacing the air filter
Be sure to use the air filter dedicated to this projector, LX-FL02. The air filter is not bundled with the
package of the projector. Contact your dealer for purchase of the air filter.
Before you replace the air filter, turn the projector off using the proper shutdown procedure as described
in "Shutting down the projector" on page 47 and unplug the power cord.
Follow the below illustrations to replace the air filter (LX-FL02). Contact your dealer when replacing the
air filter unit with the projector mounted to the ceiling.
