(V) Using the Self-timer
The self-timer is useful when you want to be in the picture. It can be
used in Basic Zone and Creative Zone modes. You should use a tripod,
Show the < 01 > icon on the LCD
panel.
Press the <□ Qii S)i> button to
display the <ci)i> icon.
To cancel the self-timer, press the
<□ I iS)l> button again or turn the
Command Dial to <(iI3a>.
Take the picture.
The picture-taking procedure is the
same as with the <0> Full Auto
mode on page 22,
Look through the viewfinder and
press the shutter button fully to start
the self-timer.
When you press the shutter button
fully, the beeper will sound and the
picture will be taken 10 sec. later.
During the first 8 sec., the beeper
beeps slowly and the self-timer lamp
blinks slowly
During the final 2 sec., the beeper
beeps quickly and the self-timer lamp
blinks quickly.
Also, the self-timer display on the
LCD panel counts down in seconds.

Do not stand in front of the camera when you start the self-timer. Doing so
will throw off the focus.

■ To cancel the self-timer after it starts, press the <□ 1 (i)i> button again
' yyhen using the self-timer to take a picture of only yourself, first lock the
focus (->page 33) on an object at the same distance where you will be in
the picture.
